can you carry a .22 in muzzleloader season for birds? or 410 20ga 12ga ?

I would think you are talking about a muzzle loader season for big game?
I don't see the issue there, unless game birds are included in the ML season....

You can take a .22 RF along I believe, but not a shotgun. I assume you mean "while hunting with a muzzleloader for deer".

After reading the regulations, I guess it's up to the individual warden. You can't legally kill deer anytime with a .22 RF, so it should be OK for grouse during mzl deer, but then it says "may not possess any other device used to kill big game(while hunting for deer in mzl season)."

Best leave the truck and knife at home as well !!!!

While hunting during the muzzleloader deer season, a hunter may not possess any other device (except a crossbow) that may be used to kill big game. A shotgun with slugs may not be used during the muzzleloader deer season.

Pellet Guns and Rimfire Rifles
A pellet gun or rimfire rifle (e.g., .17 or .22 calibre) may not be used to hunt big game.

ok , so with this you should be able to take a .17 or .22 seeing it is not to hunt big game.. i am sure it will be ok , and i have bin out all last week with the muzz and never seen a ranger . but i seen 20-30 birds and i did not have my gun on me!! so i am going to take it along and see what the ranger will do.

also i asked other hunters i had his 12ga on him , other one had a .22 hand gun

Was it a real game warden? It's halloween you know!!!

Shotguns with slugs can't be used during mzl season. Careful taking a shotgun with you and definitely leave the slugs at home. I'd vote against the .22 handgun as well!

Why no .22 mag? Makes no sense. 17 HMR is a necked down .22 mag.

unless you have the licence to carry a restricted handgun in the woods, it would be illigal to take the handgun in the forrest.

maybe didnt mean the hmr, maybe ment the mach 2.

It should be no problem as long as you have both license's on you. Look in the regs or email Manitoba Conservation.
