I was wondering if you 1911 guys could recommend some parts for my Norc 1911 Police Model from CanAm. I am only looking to replace a few parts.
I definitely want to replace the extended slide lock lever, as I truly hate 'extended' controls. I find they really get in the way, ruin the slender, low profile look of the 1911, and just look plain ugly lol. The safety and bushing are not top priority for me right now, so I will get them done whenever I have an extra few bucks to throw around.
So anyways, here is the list of parts that I want to swap out. I am looking to replace them with parts that meet the following criteria (MATTE stainless.. not the polished really shiney stainless, standard profile... NOT extended, and a drop in fit... no machining or fitting required).
- slide lock lever
- ambi safety
- barrel bushing
- allen/hex head grip screws (I read that the Norcs use a funny metric threading?)
I don't need any uber-tacticool, parts made from space age metals that will cost me $60 a pop. Just looking for good quality for a good price. They are just going on a Norc afterall.
I am not really familiar with any of these companies that make 1911 parts, so I don't know which brands people swear by, which ones to avoid, and which are just over-hyped mojo parts.
Thanks!
