I need a scope for my .22 and I've narrowed it down but I'd like some input before I make the purchase. I'm looking for something that will be good for all applications. The rifle I'm putting it on is a Savage 64FVSS. Here are the contestants:

Bushnell .22 Rimfire
3-9x32

Bushnell .22 Rimfire
4x32

Bushnell Sportsman
3-9x32

Bushnell Trophy Wide Angle
3-9x40

Simmons .22 Mag
3-9x32

Simmons .22 Mag
4x32

If you want a cheap .22 scope, you can't go wrong with a 3-9x40 Bushnell... Walmart has the cheapest prices on them.

I used to shoot a fixed 4x, but found the gophers a little easier to see with 9x.

If your rings allow it, go with a 40mm over a 32mm... little better light gathering.

You'll have to forgive my ignorance I just got my PAL and this is my first rifle. What do you mean by if my rings allow? Don't you purchse rings seperately?

I think he's assuming you allready have a set of rings. If not... then the choice of scope size is yours... find the heighth needed.... then buy the rings. If you allready have rings... then you need a scope that will fit.

Get the Simmons line of scopes. I personally like Simmons over Bushnell for the lower end stuff. I prefer the finish and the optics are pretty much equal across the board. Probably cause they are all made in China....

Get the Bushnell 3-9x32 rimfire, I have one on my Marlin 7000 and it is a great little scope for under $50 and it comes with a set of scope rings. I have no experience with the Simmons but I love the Bushnell.

I have the Bushnell 3-9x32 rimfire, and it's just fine on my Rem 597.
The scope already comes with dovetail mount rings, so you may not have to buy them separately.

I have the Bushnell .22 Rimfire 3-9x32, I mas much happier with it when i swapped to millet rings on a canitlever mount on my porject 10-22

I just got a Bushnell .22 Rimfire 3-9x32, and I'm very happy with it.
BTW it comes with a set of "tip off" rings for grooved recivers, and a set of see through scope covers.

What are you using the scope for?

Target shooting usually requires a different scope than hunting & plinking.

For plinking I would recommend the Bushnell Trophy.

If you are primarily wanting to use the gun for target use I would suggest something with higher power & an adjustable objective lens, rather than the scopes listed in the poll.

Rod.

if you have gun shows going anywhere near yer place see if you can find old K6 or K8
Weavers.they should go for around 100-120$.
those old scopes have perfect optics and are build strong.
ony thing is -they are NOT fogproof, but for target work whey rock
