Is it the flat head style screw or the allen head? Flat style find a screw driver that fits and is hollow ground not your typical house style screw driver. It will slip out as it is tapered and not straight. When you find a proper screw driver, put the firearm in a vise (receiver protected and secured) Tap the screw driver a few times with a hammer while twisting CCW. If that doesn't work attach a vise grip to the screwdriver shank to give your more leverage. I like square shank screwdrivers for this reason or find a screwdriver bit that fits a 1/4 or 3/8 socket and use a ratchet or breaker bar (lots more leverage) Be careful the firearm is not pinched to hard in the vise (leave the bolt carrier in place) as you don't want to distort the firearm. I have a set of rubber jaw protectors cut from old truck bed liner that works great for me. Sounds like a lot of stuff to do but it really isn't, good luck.

I used a large screwdriver, with a hardened steel tip, and a pair of vice grips with the receiver supported in a leg vice. no problems, screw gave a sharp snap.. and then turned right out. if you are trying to do this job with a regular screw driver and no vice.. forget it, that screw ain't moving
