Well folks, I have a wednesday challenge for you today!
My grandfather called and believes he has a mauser 98, with a few interesting markings, problem is, he doesnt have a digital camera
I was wondering if anyone can help try to ID it, based on his description to me!
First:
All of the visible numbers match. Bolt and receiver serial number is EA###xx, cal 792 with a “P” and “R” following caliber both inside squares. Marking on top looks like wings with an eagle inside and crown on top. Looks like two separate rectangular, feathered wings with an eagle in the middle. Tail feather on the bottom and a crown on top. No year marking.
To be honest, I thought the cal 792 might be spanish, when i showed him a la coruna stamped mauser photo (email) he said it doesnt look like that at all.
Im stumped, this may be easy for someone here though, any ideas?
