Can You Identify This K98 Why Is The Left Side Of The Receiver Milled?

I just received a K98 receiver marked bcd 4 on trade and the receiver has been milled on the left side and three screw holes drilled. The milled part looks original and not a Bubba job, but I could be wrong.
The barrel is serial numbered to the receiver but at the left side of both serial numbers is a 2 on a cross within a circle. The barrel is marked syk Cc. The stock is not relieved for anything being attached to the receiver so I presume it is a replacement.

Do you have a side pic of the reciever where it is milled? Specifically, how thick is it?

I believe BCD was one of two manufacturers that made receivers that had a thickened reciever wall in that area to allow for mounting of the Long Side Rail scope system. It is possible this is one of those (of course with a stock replacement).

K98 Receiver Milled

The receiver is much thicker on the left side on this K98. I compared the receiver with about six other K98's and even though it's milled it measures 4.89mm and the closest the other models from 43, 44, & 45 start at 3.79 and go to about 4.28mm. You can see the difference in the thickness at a glance. I will take some comparison pictures if I can.
 
It was my understanding the BCD 4 marked actions wit the thicker side wall were desighned to be sniper rifles. Lokk at this repro mount and see the screew position.

Are there any fill holes on the inside of the action?

Sounds like this is a cool reprot sniper project? Now all you need to do is buy a repro mount.

repro will be you cheapest option. i've been trying to look for a Arisaka type 97 one and with all the war movies glorifying snipers prices go up.
