I was searching CGN and noticed they "expect" arrival of HK VP9's sometime next year here, which got me thinking...

Since they are available in the US right now, could you have one imported (By irunguns for example), and then have a canadian legal threaded barrel (Saw them on HKParts) sent as well?

Since this gun would be new to Canada, would the RCMP have to make a firearm database/number for it before it was sent to you?

How would this work?

They have 4.09" barrels.

Until they make a longer version or an aftermarket extended bbl comes out, they are a no-go

I mentioned in my original post that hkparts.net has legal length threaded barrels. If I shipped the gun + bought legal barrel and sent it to an importer to swap and then send me, can it be done?

Probably better off to wait another few months for the promised sfp9. Its your money, if you find someone in the us who can do this for you then go ahead. Good luck, let us know if you make it happen.

Believe the firearm has to be re-registered with the longer barrel in correlation to its serial number by a distributer. Outfits such as questar have refitted glock 19's with aftermarket barrels in the south, thereafter bringing them into Canada. I believe it's illegal to bring them in with the prohibited barrels and then refit.

From what I've read the ppq still has the top notch trigger, and I caught a read on pistol forum where Bruce grey called the Vp9 overly complicated, poor design in terms of its mechanics. Just Internet jibber jabber, I guess.

Handle looks long compared to PPQ.

I like HK's but find Walthers more elegant.

PPQ trigger is superb too.
