Can you plink on private property or does it have to be a range?

Ordinarily I would have agreed with you, Cool Hand, but my more recent experience has led me to believe the RCMP become occasionally confused over the firearm laws.
I noticed that jack-o-ted is located in that big city where the former mayor and police chief want to ban handguns, so he would probably be dealing with the OPP in a rural setting.

Yes, and southern ontario has a caliber law.
You'll be fine with a 22 but if you go up, you may
Lose your ability to shoot off of a range.
Limit is 270.
Which is absurd, can shoot 270 win but not 38 out of a levergun.

Actually, the calibre restrictions apply to hunting only, as outlined in the Hunting Regulations. You can plink/target shoot with firearms larger than .270 on private property providing there are no local by-laws stipulating otherwise.
