Can you put a model 54 Winchester in 70 stock?

I just recently bought a Winchester model 54 in .30-06 and was wondering if it would fit into a model 70 stock. Any thoughts?

they have the same 'footprint' as a pre-war model 70.

You can either inlet the front bottom metal tang forward to match the front screw location, or else you can drill/tap a 1/4x32 hole in the receiver in the same location a Model 70 has and use Model 70 trigger guard and floorplate.
