Can you recommend a good .22 for my daughter?

My daughter is 10 and loves to go plinking with me. She's a great shot and is getting better every trip.
The problem is that I have two .22s. One is a Ruger 10/22 takedown. The other is a cooey single shot. The cooey is too long and heavy for her to hold and aim when standing. The Ruger does just fine in that role but I don't like her using a semi auto just yet. What I am looking for is a rifle that has a manual cycle and is relatively light and short. I thought about the Savage Model 42 but I don't know what it actually feels like.
It can be bolt action, lever or single shot. Doesn't matter as long as its available and not prohibitively expensive.

I have a Henry ar-7 survival rifle. Holds 8 rounds, doubles as a good backpack rifle. A winchester 150 lever action. Holds 16 rounds, classic. Reliable. A ruger 10-22 in camo. Fast, accurate, light.

I love all three equally, all have uses. The 10/22 comes in pinkish colors
 
The basic Savage Mk.II (I think it is the 'F' model) has a light barrel and a very light plastic stock, but may be too long for her. If the LOP fits it would be perfect for what you want. If you know what LOP you want I can measure the stock on mine and let you know what it is.

My daughter has been using the Ruger 10/22 and since it's pink she loves it.She has had it since she was 12 and is now 14.
I was worried about her being behind the wheel of a semi as well, but she caught it, got the responsibility of it and now loves going out on a plinking day.
It's nice for her because it's "her gun" and she has to load and take care of it and show some ownership. She has quickly grown into it, whereas with the old single shot cooey I had, she quickly grew out of it.


Good on you getting her out. If you're anything like me, our "range dates" are some of our best times.
 
I ordered a Pink Savage Racal from Cabela's for my 3 year old daughter, should be here in a couple of days. From what I read they are pretty good.
 
Henry Mini-bolt. I got one for my then 9 year old daughter. She was small for her age but could work the bolt and #### the action with no issues--and the small size and light weight help too. It's a single shot with manual cocking so it's very safe. The fibre optic sights are easy to use too. She's now almost 12 and still enjoys shooting it.
 
I've heard some pretty good things about the Savage Rascal and am considering getting one for my daughter so she can use something a bit smaller at the range but it may not be needed just yet for us.
