Can you recommend some rings.

I am in the process of mounting a Super sniper scope on a rem 700. I have a Near mfg base that I am installing. However the set of burris rings I have just wont slip over the base and I do not want to force them. Can you reccomend a reasonably priced set of rings that will fit over the Near base. The base appears to be weaver style. Also I am assuming the super sniper requires a 30 mm ring.

Why not just go to another base? On my 700's I love the Talley one peice lightweights.

I'm not sure if you tried this but, the Burris "weaver style" rings are meant to slide on the base not to pop over it.

If Burris won't slide on find a small screwdriver and put the end into the cut on the rings and give a bit of a twist to open them slghtly.

Ian's got it right. They come from manufacturing slightly snug. Just give them a little tweak, you won't damage them.

Why not get a set of rings from Richard @ Near? Give him a call he can set up up with the correct set for your rifle/scope combination.

I used a single base Leupold mount and Leupold rings on mine. In 10 years, my scope zero hasn't shifted even a 1/4 MOA. You can spend a lot more on exotic mounts and rings if you want but this set up works great for me at a reasonable cost.

As clang mentioned, Richard also makes rings that are second to none. He is also in Camrose Ab and his customer service is excellent. Give him a call and I am sure he could set you up.

I order some rings for Richard @ Near for my Tikka T3, they should arrive sometime this week, I will post some pict's when I get them so you can see for yourself.
