can you store your pistol with the slide locked back for any extended time?

Actually you can. What wears a spring in cycling it not compression. Just like with storing loaded mags, its not a problem. Don't by into the myth BS

springs don't wear out due to compressed. that's a myth. note that almost anything with a spring it it that is to be compressed by any action the spring in it is already compressed to a degree, yet regardless of how long it is kept assembled there's always tension on it when you move the part. in short springs do not lose their springiness.

You can, don't see why you'd want to though.
cable lock instead of a trigger lock, readiness in accordance to our storage regulations?

Every gotten bit by a slide that jumps forward while your finger is in the way? That's reason enough that I would not want to store the guns that way. On some it takes just way too little a jar on the slide lock to let the slide snap forward. It would be like sticking your hand into a shelf or drawer full of small game leg hold traps.

I see no problem locking it back, but I don't when storing, I put a dummy round in (plastic / Alum) and send it forward / pull, remove the mag and store..

Not quite sure I understand the need for a dummy round in the chamber when storing..?

Me either, but I do it to... hmm habit probably for me. Haven't heard of folks storing pistols with the slide locked back but... why not I suppose! I probably just don't get out enough...

Is it law that the mag must be removed? Even if it's empty?

What would you say it is:

“unloaded”

“unloaded”, in respect of a firearm, means that any propellant, projectile or cartridge that can be discharged from the firearm is not contained in the breech or firing chamber of the firearm nor in the cartridge magazine attached to or inserted into the firearm.
