Can you use 454 casull in a 460 S & W revolver

I was told I can use 454 Casull and 45 long colt ammo in my magnum research 460 S & W. I was just wondering if this is the case. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Just like .38 in a .357 it's fine.

they use the same case head , the only difference is the length .....

it is the same situation as 45-70 , 45-90 .45-100 , 45-110 and 45-120 , they can all be fired safely in a chamber cut for 45-120 .

Yes .45Colt and .454 Cassul shoot flawlessly out of this revolver.

I've done it myself shooting a mixed cylinder.

Can't say for sure about the Magnum Research revolver, but have done so with no problems with my 460 XVR. My advice is to get a copy of the owners manual and go by what they say if you want to play on the safe side.

Same here., I was almost disappointed with the 454 round in my .460. It's comparable (in felt recoil) to my .44mag. The X-Frame is just so big! Now factory .460 ammo... there is no mistaking that. What a wallop!

I found it funny too that the .460 ammo was actually cheaper (~ $10 less) than the .454 Casull ammo! Weird....
