Can you wash the wax/lube on the tips of Blazer?

I have a few .22s that are pretty accurate with CCI Blazer ammo but lately I have noticed that some of the rounds have an excessive amount of wax or lube on the lead tips, preventing them from even coming out of the plastic holder. This lube/wax then gums up my McFadden loader as well as my mags.

Is there a way to wash or clean this build-up off first without damaging the ammo? Bonus points if it involves fire in any way. Laugh2

You don't want to strip them entirely dry. I would just give them a wipe with a paper towel or rag.

Best is find a cleaner round that shoots well.

The build-up is thick and I don't really want to hand wipe individual .22lr rounds; I'll take a few pictures next time. Trying other ammunition of course is an option, but I was hoping to stay with Blazers for their accuracy and price point as I shoot a lot.

I'm not familiar with those particular shells but if it's a soft wax maybe you could support them in the CCI type boxes and warm them with a hairdryer to get most of the excess wax to drip off.
Any kind of tumbling or rough handling might make the bullets loose in the case.
A rinse in a solvent that works on the lube might work but you would have to find a way to keep it from being smeared all over the whole case and making things worse. Just enough to suspend the tips in fluid in the tray for a bit and then drain it out again?

Individual wiping would be a pain but you could get through a lot while watching tv in a couple hours....

Put them n a bucket th a small splash of mineral spirits and give me a little swirl, dump onto towel and pat dry. I just did this to a batch of 240 gr cast bullets that I added lube too and forgot them sitting in my garage and they got covered in sawdust. Dust and lube came off great.

If yer gonna use spirits, make it the consumable kind like whiskey or scotch.....then grab the rag/towel and start wiping.

I'd be concerned about any kind of 'solvent' might contaminate the powder. If you have the trays that some .22 boxes contain then you could 'suspend' just the bullet.

lay them single layer on a paper towel. Place another paper towel on top and heat them up with a heat-gun.
dab them snug with a rag.

I would be afraid to remove all the lube off the bullets. If you do and do not replace it with some form of lube it may cause leading in the bore and possibly some feed issues.

If your are having lube build up in your firearm, I would look at another brand of bullets.
