Canada Day task

What better way to celebrate Canada Day. Nice weather, so I decided to melt down my last bucket of wheel weights (divided into carryable portions!)

Mixed clip on and stick on with a handful of reclaimed shot and about 10m of 0.032 62/36/02 solder.

About 35 lb or so in the first batch.

Maybe four or five more like that to go.

Waiting to hear back from one of my sources....my molds are on their way

I am hoping to get to 1000 lbs this year, that is on top of the 200 lbs or so I got for someone else

The day is young. Lots of time for more slops. I place the molds on the steel plate on the Work Mate so there isn't so much bending over. Easier on the back. It's a short trip from the pot to the molds then.
Leather boots and molten metal go well together. I'll probably end up with about 130-150 lbs when I'm finished with this load. there was about 40% steel and zinc in this lot.

I do mine using a hot plate and end up with about 25-30 lbs per pot..usually enough time to process one pot after work. This way it does not end up being a chore and the neighbours dont complain about the smell. I do everything on the ground, dont have to worry about dropping anything But yah...pain in the back for sure.

I have been lucky and I usually end up with 10-15% waste

I usually try to do one bucket at a time. Should get at least 100lb per, depending on the bucket. More than that is too much. I can't imagine those guys that do five or six buckets at a time.

i'm the same, 1 bucket at a time. but that's only because that's all i usually get lol. waiting for a big score one day!

Ratz. Ran out of propane with the full pot 1/2 melted. Ended up with 111lb and another 35-40lb in the pot.
