Canada In the Rough blooper reel video

Like this show for the most part, but I'll never forget the one episode a few years ago where the old guy who used to narrate it and hunt with them sometimes (not their dad) took a shot a swimming caribou. Did not sit right with me at all.

Thomas Pidgeon was the original host and founder. He was convicted in 2014 of using snowmobiles to herd animals so he could shoot them, in Nunavut.

Bill Troubridge, founder of Excalibur crossbows, was also convicted of the same offence, also in Nunavut, 2 years after Thomas Pidgeon did it.

Oustanding character these guys have, all for a tv show.

Thomas Pigeon, founder of Canada in the Rough, has pleaded guilty and been fined $8000 for possessing two muskox mounts and one wood bison mount that were taken by him while hunting illegally.

William Troubridge, of Elora, pleaded guilty and was fined $4,000 for unlawfully transporting from Nunavut to Ontario two muskoxen that were killed contrary to Nunavut legislation.
The courts heard that in April of 2005, William Troubridge and Roger Davidson were involved in hunts for muskox on Victoria Island, Nunavut.
Video of the hunts was being taken for a Canadian hunting television show.Videos show the men being brought to well within 1.5 km of muskoxen so they could more easily select, hunt, shoot and kill the muskox of their choosing. In the case of Troubridge, the video shows that, with his full knowledge, muskoxen were herded by guides on snowmobiles toward him.

Something tells me one of the mounts alone cost more that the fine lol

I forgot how much fun it is walking through muskeg.

Sometimes no matter how well you tuck your laces in there's always that branch/stick/root that will manage to grab you in mid stride
How about when you say I'm not going that far I'll just wear my runners, 7+ hours later.

Wait a minute. You mean there are people that haven't scoped themselves?

They showed that on an episode? I've only been aware of the show for a year or so.

The original host pigeon is an egotistical piece of crap. I met him at a sportsman show one time and spoke for a good ten minutes. I left wondering how such an idiot could be a host of a tv show. I wouldn’t waste my piss on him if he was on fire.

I've been at shows where they had a booth but never had the opportunity to speak with the new guy.

If I was to be in any clip on that reel, guaranteed I'd be the guy chasing a goose across the field!

Same here and to be honest there aren’t many shows I find actually interesting, HOTR I like most of the time, no drama, no crazy music, no nonsense!

Close, but not quite accurate. It was the Inuit guides who herded them up for him. Legal for them to do,but not while acting as a guide.

It’s illegal in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories to use vehicles to get within 1.5 kilometres of a muskox for the purpose of hunting.

In a news release, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources says video footage shows muskox being herded by the guides using snowmobiles so that Pigeon can shoot them.

The new hosts (3 brothers) have been on the show for quite some time now. I cannot recall when pigeon left the show, but it was a long time ago. The Beasley brothers just seem like normal dudes which is nice to see because too many hunting/fishing hosts tend to be egotistical snobs.
