Canada Military Kevlar

Spoiler alert it doesn't work. I walked through the vehicle grave yard in Kandahar Afghanistan ONCE!!! It's false confidence to think even thick armor will save you from a bomb blast.

Possible the affects of spall bouncing around in a vehicle? The removal of this was done in the Montreal area before getting auctioned off. There used to be a never ending supply 4 years ago, but now it has dried up.

The intent of the ballistic blankets is to reduce the effects of spalling/scabbing inside the vehicles, preventing penetration beyond the blankets from external attacks, vehicle parts, bolts, rivets, etc. The ballistic blankets provide little to no protection from blast and they were never intended to do so. Ultimately, there is very little we can do to protect personnel when 50kg of HME is going off 2ft away from them...

Please note that this material does expire. Body amour is usually rated for 5 years, and even if it does perform to some level you are still gambling as time goes on. These are not steel plates. Something to keep in mind. Also be careful in cutting Kevlar in a well ventilated area or wearing masks. These are just a few things to keep in mind
