Well folks. Today the bad news came. Canada Post lost a Tavor I sent on trade.

Last month, on July.21, I made a trade with a wonderful fellow in Ontario. I was to be sending my IWI Tavor away to a new home. I packaged up my rifle, carefully loading everything into the hardcase, and wrapping it up with enough tape and shipping wrap to keep it alive if it were thrown into a volcano. The next day, the Tavor was on it's way to it's new home and my new rifle was on it's way to me in Northern British Columbia.

After a week had gone by, I got my new rifle! Yay!....but no rifle for my friend in Ontario? We decided to check the tracking information - alas, it was last scanned in Edmonton. We dismissed the hold up and decided we'd be patient and wait...and wait we did.

After a week of patiently waiting, we thought something had to be up. We contacted CP and reported a package that had not been delivered. CP took over a week to get back to us, and with very little information of their progress. We contacted the RCMP and informed them of this rifle gone missing while in Canada Post's trust. The constable in charge essentially told me "That sucks. Can't really help you here...good luck!"....So much for that.

After several weeks of calling CP to try and get an agent to contact me, me and my recipient were left in the dark. Waiting for ANY information about what was happening. What steps were being taken. No one seemed to give a damn that a $3500 rifle and contents had just gone missing. Funny.

So today I get a call from CP and she outright tells me "Yeah, so we cant find the package. We looked all over and it is gone. I'll send you an email so you can make a claim. Thank you for choosing Canada Post."

You're welcome?

So, anyone have experience with this kind of nightmare? Because this sucks...

Man. That stucks. Id be very upset. I hope you insured it. 77$ seems cheap once its gone missing.

Man i feel for you. And also the other guy. Loses in shipping costs, time and missing out on items you both wanted. I hope it works out for you and you get the money to buy a brand new one.... because of course it was brand new never fired when dealing with insurance

Really sorry to hear about this, sucks all around.

Even if this was insured, it's still quite concerning knowing a rifle went missing while in trust to a crown corporation. Someone, somewhere is in possession of it, to what ends? Who knows.

Here in the USA private individuals have to use common carries, UPS and Federal Express, and they require us to use their "Overnight Express Delivery" since they are so rife with thieves they fear a gun going on regular shipment would never make it.

Had that happening couple years ago...

No #### was given by the useful idiots of CP and it took forever to get the money from the insurance I had paid for it

To say that sucks would be an understatement. Just asking, did you box the hard case?

Good point....I guess if it looks ANYTHING like a gun case, the chances of it going "missing" are increased considerably. Really sorry to hear it OP....that f***in blows

...........same story happen to a friend sending an once of gold from Edmonton too......... it vanished and nobody gives a F#$@#........

If I had to put money down? YOU GOT JACKED. A $3,500 rifle is one hell of a temptation to some people. Sorry to say it but.... I doubt it's going to be found.

our police are to busy staring at peoples dash boards catching you on your cell phone. An item that is so regulated for people to aquire but yet no big deal to go missing in government care sounds hypocritical to me....

I am sorry to hear about your loss, may opt out of Canada post for shipping. Canpar and UPS seem to be the better ones around me.

Probably a lesson here to make sure you record the serial # in case it shows up for sale somewhere.
I'm definitely going to start doing this with non-restricteds.

Dont use Canada Post. UPS, Purolator, Canpar, etc. are all eager to pick up their slack and do a way better job. Canada Post is the Air Canada equivalent. Complacent and protected by the government.
