Canada Post Price Hikes and Lost Packages

Would it assist in tracking if a couple of GPS trackers were inserted in the package/contents. Have seen a documentary where they put trackers in returned merchandise to see/follow it's travels to an auction site . Expense added , yet perhaps peace of mind. JMO

Yea I heard of people putting airtags in luggage. If it’s an expensive item it’s pretty cheap for peace of mind.

Yeah it's pretty bad. Honestly not even surprised by that story of yours. Everytime I took insurance it was useless as well when it was time to claim. I really despise them and sadly enough they have the monopole.

It is not a Firearm...it is a Test Kit , used to accelerate particles to a specific speed for calibration purposes...

One more package with $700 + worth of stuff confirmed lost with Canada Post. . .

I just don't know how they can possible be SO BAD at their job. I mean, it's an automated system for the most part.

Curious to know what their response would be if you informed them that since they are a Federal establishment and the lost items are firearms (if and when they are firearms) that you will be alerting the RCMP to investigate the loss of firearms in their possession, just what they might do/say then.

Been there, done that. Their response : Whatevs, contact the RCMP we truly don't care. (In a nutshell)

Nope, the gentleman who's package it is didn't ask for insurance.

Well hopefully he paid with a credit card and puts you in your place with a simple call to his card issuer

Not that it matters because the law is clear regardless of what you put on your website but I just checked out a shotgun on your store and at no point was I warned about insurance or given the opportunity to purchase it. Nor do I see anything in your FAQ. In your mind I’m supposed to contact you outside your automated store about paying for insurance and if I don’t you wash your hands of it?

My EE package is still MIA for a month. Created a case a week after it didn’t arrive and they missed that targeted response time (3 weeks) without any action.

Can’t even contact the ombudsman until they action my case.

I hate that I pay for this with fees and then pay again with my tax $$

A customer of mine ordered a rifle scope was purchased from Al Flaherty's Outdoor Store and had it delivered to my shop so I could take care of the installation for him. On reception, it turned out to be defective. I contacted the store and they asked me to ship it back, they would inspect it and send me another one if they deemed it defective. I shipped it via Canada Post with insurance and for months, the tracking showed it was stalled in a postal sorting center in Ontario. I placed a complaint and after their investigation, they denied my claim. The email I received from their investigator stated that they had called the store, and that Mr Al Flaherty was not available but they had questioned an employee and that said employee was not willing to sign an affidavit swearing that the parcel was never been delivered to them. Christ, their own tracking system puts it in their facility and they can’t show me a signature from Al Flaherty's ghost (he opened the store in the forties, I doubt he’s still alive). Grrr…..

Wow, these are brutal stories. For the unbelievably high cost of insurance, I can’t believe it doesn’t pay out when they lose something.

I make claims regularly, never for a lost package but missed delivery dates.
I send anything allowable, by express post and it's a guaranteed service.

The new website will be optimized for all of the shipping options available. In the meantime we are contacting any order over $200.00 to offer CP shipping insurance, this is the reason it exists. If you opt out we request that in an email and that's that. We are not Canada Post's insurance branch. If you don't like paying for the insurance on an expensive order then don't order. Easy.

It's either that or we cease to sell online to the public which means LE / MIL only and you guys don't get the goods we sell, take your pick, lol.

Yup, hold their feet to the fire and make them pay. Maybe that way they will pay more attention to the service they offer and will not lose as many parcels that don't belong to them....
