picked up a nice rear site i THOUGHT was for a P14 today. it apears to not be. anyone have any ideas what it is for?

Fairly early Commercial sight, usually found on early "saddle" sights added to short-barrel Ross MkII variants used for match target shooting. Also often found on bridge bases on early Commercial MkII**'s as well.

It is a receiver sight, mounts on a bridge. If your rifle has had a bridge installed, it would fit.

Tom- This CanTool sight from Ebay is completely incorrect for a 1905-E Commercial. The standard factory-supplied barrel sight on the E was a three-leaf Express sight (same as SDS), but one of my original E's came with a Winchester Semi-Buckhorn sight in a dovetail, same as was standard supply on the 1905-Rs. This Cantool sight belongs on an early saddle-base on a MkII Military rifle.See multi examples in RRS sight section.
