Ken Nelson's SUPS range is hosting a unique event next April.

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK - April 13/14th - St George,Utah

Brian Nelson has designed an 8 stage multy gun match ( 7 x 3 gun & 1 X PCC (supplied) bringing club shooters from England, Europe,South Africa & Canada.

Vortex are dropping $25,000 in product on the random draw prize table along while a whole stack of other sponsors.

In addition Nordic Components will have a 4 stage shotgun side shoot for loads of trophies & prizes.

All this plus lunch & dinner each day for $200 (US)

Could be the most fun match of 2018 with night time call outs in the floodlit arena !

I don't understand the choice to have Vortex supply the prizes. Half or more of the competitors won't be able to take Vortex prizes home, because you can't export optics from the States.

Vortex scopes, red dots, binos , rangefinders & apparel is not itar, all are from the civilian range , cleaning products from Otis, mounts from Warne, parts from Tarran Tactical, hopefully some thing of interest to all competitors.

Longest I've driven for a match is to Raton New Mexico... St. George Utah, Man... It's only 7 hours further (or is it Farther?), but...
That's a lot of time on the road. I think flying is the better option...

I suppose I can't prove you are wrong, but everything I've read and heard from people I put some trust in tells me you are incorrect.

Some examples suggesting ITAR does apply:

I personally spoke to a staff member at Irunguns about exporting a rifle with a Vortex rifle scope on it, and he said the scope would have to be cleared with Department of Commerce at additional Irunguns fee.

Vortex has distributors in Canada/USA/Europe, I am sure given their well known warranty policies they'd send you one on your return rather than try to make you export/import. Though that is just my opinion.

Are the competitors grouped into National Teams?

And is it open to novice shooters? Or is this an ultra elite 3G Nation thing?

I signed up and “elite” is the last thing anyone would call me with respect to 3 Gun. I say the more the merrier.

I am looking forward to embarrassing myself on an international level...now that I’ve solidified my domestic title. Wanna challenge me for the title?

Hmmmm, definitely worth a thought. Btw, with a match invite and your Form6, you guys realize Utah is a gun friendly State, right?

When did the rules change. A friend of mine sent me an old Redfield scope to sell up here. It got seized at the border. No export permit. Maybe they are giving out certificates to be redeemed by the local distributor.

Ok just to help with a few questions:
1) Vortex will issue you with a letter stating said won item was a free product ( or take it out of the box rough it up a bit - lol)
2) A lot of other nice stuff from cleaning kits to glasses to Tarran springs/base pads to Warne mounts. All will come with a letter explaining where it was from - OR we will arrange local delivery
3) Manufacturers are lining up to sponsor this event as its almost World wide publicity

4) most important ..... this is a CLUB level event ....... most of the Brits only shoot semi auto rifles/handguns once a year !

5) plan is to shoot for yourself but were have fun "Nation" call outs on Friday night in the floodlit arena
6) Each shooter gets an offical invite letter to aid gun import - or loan guns will be available in small numbers

Local ammo from DOA can be at the range waiting for you.

This is not a 3 gun Nation event but a mix of outlaw/3GN/multy gun as each Nation has different rules - Brian Nelson has done a great job on fun stages with basic local rules.

We are working on a machinegun side shoot in the trench system .

Nordic Components 4 stage side shoot adds a fun down time match with great trophies & apparel.

Please ask any questions & ill try & answer them.

gunfighteruk you might want to re-think how you deal with the prizes. Smuggling scopes out of the US, if you get caught, can have serious consequences to the smuggler. I wish your event well but our border is not the same border it was back in the 70's. Coming back from the WA State match this year I was stopped on the US side by US Border Patrol. After a polite discussion with the two officers I was on my way. The conversation might have been a whole lot different IF they found a "roughed up" scope in the vehicle. I assume my answers to their questions and my demeanor satisfied their curiosity. Just saying.
