At the IDPA shoot yesterday I saw two guys that had matching 1911's---the gun's were a light brown/tan colour and had a black maple leaf on the slide. Does anyone know who makes them? I want to find a picture but after googling for a while I've come up empty. Any ideas?

Sounds like a Para Ordnance from the description. Was there any other markings. Para did several runs of pistols for members of the Canadian Armed Forces as part of the appreciation program for serving military members that were tan with a black maple leaf on the back of the slide.

You guys rock

That is just pretty.

It doesn't have a maple leaf on it, but its still a Canadian Forces 1911 :p

Too bad we don't use the 1911 model anymore, its always been to me the epitome of the combat handgun....

I've wanted a 1911 for a long time, I'll own one soon enough! Honestly though, my G22 is awesome for me right now, I've only been shooting really for 3-4 weeks.

Plus, there's so many bloody options, brands, choices, etc---it's really hard for us new guys to figure out what's what!

I can sure relate to that! I researched for months, and was totally overwhelmed with all the choices . . . in the end, very happy with my eventual decision, an STI Spartan. Great 1911 at a great price!
