Canadian AR build

Like a bunch of other people on here I picked up a "Z" NEA lower from SFRC with the goal of trying to build an almost completely canadian made AR.
Here are the specs:

NEA Z lower - new
NEA slick side upper - new
NEA BCG - new
NEA 7" rail - used off EE
NEA lpk
S&J Hardware 14.5" barrel - new but off EE
DD gas block and tube
Magpul MOE grip, stock and BUIS

Had a chance to test the gun on the weekend, and overall I am happy with the gun. It came in slightly more pricey than a Norc but I was able to put everything together myself and pick out a bunch of the parts. I put 140 rounds through it with zero failures. I won't comment on accuracy just yet as I only had the Magpul flip up sights and wasn't firing from a rest. The groups did seem alright, I was also trying out a couple different kinds of ammo so once I decide on which seems the best I'll try a better accuracy test. About the only complaint I might be able to say is the mags didn't seem to catch with the bolt closed once the gun got cold. I was shooting outdoors in temps below -20C, they worked fine when the gun was warm. Anyone have any ideas that I can try? Not sure what I'll be doing next, building this one was pretty fun so I might try another upper build, but first optics. I will most likely go with the Vortex PST 1-4X or another low power scope like that. I'll try posting pics once I get a photobucket account.
 
I am a member at the range in The Pas, MB but I plan on getting a membership to the outdoor range in Esterhazy and possibly the range in Yorkton.
 
how many of your mags do it? all of them, some of them?

try putting loaded mags in the gun in the house so the gun and mags are warm. could be the temp changes the dimensions that little bit.

one thing i have noticed with my pmags and some GI mags is depending where the pin is it wont allow the rounds the squish down far enough to allow for a closed bolt mag change.
 
I am doing a Canadian AR build too. I also have an NEA Z receiver, BCG, and slick upper plus a 16.5" S&J barrel. It sounds like the NEA bolt and S&J barrel are working fine together? How about the gas block install, any tips or tricks I should know?

Here is how it sits now, waiting for a longer rail to come in that I picked up off EE. Now just gotta decide what to do for optics. Might either go with Viper PST or wait and pick up some iron sights for now.

then again im sure people who can afford to buy a AT AR probably arnt lurking around here, they are probably eating caviar somewhere.
 
P226R yeah bolt and barrel worked fine together. I had made another post when I was assembling because the bolt was tight to close on a round but I was pushing by hand and probably not as hard as when you actually rack the bolt with the charging handle, lol. Gas block was easy as it is just a bolt on, I did have to ream the block slightly to get the tube to fit. Other than that so far 140 rounds with no problems, plan to go out this weekend and put another hundred rounds through it or more. As for the NEA parts breaking, we'll see, I'm hoping that all that is past them.

Yes the parts we claim we make ARE actually made right here in Canada. We do not make all the parts of our AR style rifles but do manufacture in-house the upper, lower, free float rail, barrels, muzzle devices and gas blocks.
Things like the stocks, fore-ends, sights, gas tubes, LPKs and bolt assemblies we do not make , nor do we ever claim to.
