ok.
so i have a couple low end AR's and im tossing around the idea of finally upgrading to a nicer one.
i would like to pick up a Canadian made one and was wondering if anyone has had the opportunity to handle a couple of them side by side and can tell me which ones are better and maybe why?

so far i think ive narrowed down to either one of the new Colt Canada offerings or an Alberta Tactical one.
the big difference between them of course being the CC one is mass production and the AT one is more hand made, from what i can gather.
a 3rd option would of course be a DLASK one, while i dont see uppers on his web site anymore im sure Joe could be convinced to put one together for the right price.

so has anyone put hands on any of these three and can offer some sage advice?
fit and finish a little better on one over another?
warranty better on any of them?

thanks for the help.

On topic of Canadian made..

How does Motiuk fare? I was thinking of doing my first custom build and selling my CORE15 and liked the idea of custom engagements, provided the quality of the stripper lower is good.

Really depends on your budget, if you want full ambi or care if its billet, etc.

If I had money coming out of my a$$ I'd probably go ATRS for the ambi bolt release, only thing I wouldn't like about that is that some of the lower parts aren't standard bits you can replace yourself from a LPK. Can't remember which ones, but I seem to recall reading that somewhere.

Colt Canada would be my choice, but I'm waiting for the IUR'S to become available. I expect CC to release a statement as to their availability before 2015 if we are lucky, well at least that's my take from what Matt (CC staff) on CC's thread has stated.

I dont know much about these rifles, but my KAC SR15A3 Mod 2 was in the 2650.00 price range all in, i guess, you could add it to your list... Before i tought those rifles were living on their reputation, now that i have one, i just see that they are very representative of their reputation... Just saying... JP.

Colt Canada guns are only built and assembled in Canada, the company is American. Geographic location doesn't mean a hill of beans IMO. Same story for Tim Hortons which is American owned now. However, of the three you list, their is really no contest, as Dlask is half a$$ed, AT is over priced and uses low end parts.

As much as I believe KAC's to be sweet rifles the OP is looking for a Canadian made AR which last I heard KAC is not.

Well since you want to step up in quality from what you now have I would say the choice is between Colt Canada and Alberta Tactical Rifle. As you eluded too the ATR is a somewhat custom fitted rifle of strict tolerances, fit & finish, as for the CC being mass produced I'm not so sure (the rifles now available to the public are a limited run of only #490 of each model as I understand it) and they are produced at no where near the production of their American counterparts.
The Colt Canada rifles are a significant step above what is offered from Colt USA what with the barrels being cold hammer forged and matched to the chambers (the USA versions are not) along with many other materials and procedures being different for a better final product. Since the barrel/chamber/bolt are really the most important parts for success with an AR regarding repeatable accuracy and reliability these aspects along with the many other details that Colt Canada offers make these C7/C8's world class rifles.
The ATR rifles while being extremely well made do not have the history or pedigree to match the CC offerings, that is not to say they are better or worse only that they have not been tested to the degree the CC versions have. As I have never shot a ATR rifle I'm not prepared to state anymore then this regarding them other then what I've read which leads me to believe they are offer more options (like ambit bolt release etc. 'not completely positive on this fact') then what the CC rifles at present do and produce excellent accuracy, reliability and exclusivity along with good customer service. Speaking of customer service, CC will be offering a decent service set-up too and since these rifles are both Canadian made means the wait for service won't be weeks or even months in the unlikely event your rifle needs service like would be the case if American (or other country of origin) made.

I would also go with the CC

I would also go with the CC, as my first choice. It might be a good plan to wait a bit and see if the LE PATROL C8IUR version goes public.
What's up with your Core15. I have a Core15 TAC M4 with Adams Arms piston system and SS barrel. It's a really nice rifle. The only upgrade is a drop in Black Rain single stage trigger,. It's awesome fun.

Funny how after colt canada comes out everybody touts its accuracy when it's a non ff setup. And before free float was all the rage. Love the consistancy.

To OP out of the 3 you mentioned I can only recommend the Colt Canada because that's the only one I have handled so far(didn't get a chance to shoot it yet. I will have a more accurate picture when i do get some range time with it.)

It is overpriced for what it is, but there is no doubt it is a quality piece.

I simple believe people are claiming good accuracy from Canadian Colts based on the rifles performance at the range, which was my experience. Claims of good accuracy regarding a certain Companies product should be do to the actual accuracy and not because it either does or does not have a FF barrel.

Love the consistency of CC rifles.;)

I recal a video of a 1000 yard shoot on snipershide with a barrel duct taped to a 2x4. Free Floating dosent equal to accuracy....

Many would disagree with that statement. Kyle Lamb of Viking Tactics indicates that he demonstrated 6 plus inches of POI shift at 100 yards by simply pressing the rifle against cover while firing. I don't think a FF rifle is necessary but it does help eliminate user induced POI shift.
