any one no or remember the barrel length of the shotguns we used in cyprus and crowd control? were they 870's?

Cannot remember back that far (Summer '78 Nicosia) but I do remember the 9mm for DOG control!

Heeeere kitty kitty kitty! Sector 4 Cancon!! Yuk yuk yuk :D

Barrels would be 18", not 18.5". Any new shotguns purchased by the CF would have 18.5" barrels since Remington changed the length, however most shotguns in the field will have been around for awhile and be sporting the older 18" length.

Next week I'll check the genuine CF manual for the 870. There next to the 'shoulder-controlled, pump-action, manually operated ...' statement will be the charactistics and barrel length.

thanks everyone. it's been years i cant clearly remember. i seem to recal 2 types of shotguns, one being a 20" and one shorter. no doubt 18".

In our platoon communications bunkers on the line, we kept a Remingtom 1100 Magnum with a 20 inch deer barrel on it.
My section commander was a waterfowler from way back, so the platoon WO gave him the duty to clean it once a week, as he was very familiar with this model.

That doesn't really mean much. Remington was listing all of their barrels as 18", even the newer 18.5" ones. They may be labeling them correctly now, I don't know. A few people have Remington 1187s that are listed as restricted because Remington listed the length as 18", not the true 18.5".

ETA: It doesn't really matter as any barrels back in the Cyprus days would definitely be the original 18" length, unless of course they had some 20" versions like others have mentioned.

As Leg states, the manual doesn't mean much when it comes to weights and measures.
Anyway, the "book" mentions 4 variants of the 870. The fixed stock versions come with either a 28" or 20", and the folders come with 18" barrels.

Do you know where to get these. We had 1 per section in Afghan. I love that stock and I want want one for my 870! I've looked all over and all I can find are the synthetic ATI brand ones... not the same.

Put a WTB ad on the parts and bits EE.

It will find you.
