Canadian barrel minufacturers or distributors

Holy craps Jefferson your a very influential guy, can I be your best friend? column smolumn gimme a break, Lol, they had an abundance of cores and their jackets are never consistent enough in weight, tada column bullet...sheese

A Bartlein is $519 vs $420 for a Canadian barrel

Is the $100 you save worth the potential headache? Personally, I don't want any compromise in my equipment.

With a Bartlein you are getting consistency. They are held to +.0005" bore and groove diameter tolerance and twist can be carried out to the 4th decimal point.

my choice would be the Bartlein, well worth the $100 difference.

There is a very few exceptions but cut-rifle barrels rule BR and not by a small margin. Look at results.https://internationalbenchrest.com/...rifle makers have in addition to match grade.

As a dealer, I am somewhat bias in my response

:)

If I can help with the IBI and other goodies to get a package deal, please pm or email to discuss. Happy to help.

Jerry

I've actually been in contact with Ryan at IBI about how involved they're willing to get in the stupidity I'm thinking about undertaking. To say I'm impressed by both the services they're offering and the quality of communications is an understatement.

a factor to consider is if ppl don’t support these Canadian company’s and give them a chance they won’t be around long, sure some great barrels come out of the USA, I personally would like to spend my money locally and support local Canadian products.

"Just a note. I have had good barrels and bad barrels from most of the top name brands including the ones from Wisconson. The last one I had from them only lasted 750 rounds from a 6.5 x 47 L before the chunks coming out of the steel got too bad and accuracy went for a crap."

This barrel was either a Krieger or Bartlein!! A number of years ago a bad lot of steel was made and all manufacturers had issues. Not a manufacturing problem but a steel issue.

"Canadians can make very good barrels but unfortunately for most CDN manufacturers, you must be a success in the US before CDN's will believe that CDN manufacturers are that good."

Ted used to make a good button rifled barrel. In Australia they were very popular for benchrest and apparently they ordered a fair volume of them.

It also bears mentioning in these threads about minute differences, for the vast majority of shooters it's the Indian and not the arrow.

Myself have been impressed with both my IBI barrels,

308, round count 1200-1300, a 26'' M40 profile on a savage 10.
I can honestly get sub 1/2 moa at 300M, 10 shot group, under 2 minutes of time.

223 Wylde, round count 100, a 19'' service rifle setup, only shot XM855 62gn so far.
Seems to hold 1.5moa pretty consistently at 100M. Just got my 77 TMK's by the mail and will give them a go soon with some IMR 8208xbr.

I took a chance because they are Canadian, and truly think they have a superb product.
But I do not buy blindly because of made in Canada now, it's an extra incentive, but if a product is clearly inferior or over-priced, I won't shy away from 'murican products.

Hugh is turning into a force to be reckoned with in the short range game. He leaves nothing to chance in the Formula 1 of the shooting world. He is in basically total control of the key factors in the game. He has worked hard and continues to work hard at the game.
