i'm looking for a .30 caliber sporting barrel for a project and want to know what other makers there are aside from gaillard, want to shop around and see what my options are.

Use the search tool and you will find this has been discussed several times...

Rob Maclennan (sp?) makes a nice barrel. My uncle has one on his 7mmMag and he loves it. I think you are looking at close to $600 installed from him, not really sure of that though. I have a barrel on order right now for my .300WM. Should be ready soon, so I will be able to tell you exactly what it costs then.

FWIW....I used a Maclennan barrel in my 6mmBR build recently. I say recently because it finally got finished in February, but I waited 10 months to get it. I am pleased with the accuracy in this new rifle so I suppose a good thing came to me who waited. Rob did all the work to the prior barreled action.

His barrels don't fowl up much. The lapping was excellent. The cost of the barrel and install, trueing and cuting, crowning and threading was $700. He specifically made mine with a 1:13 twist which he had to cut himself. Perhaps this added to the wait time, but 10 months is a bit long.

-Bevan King
-Mick McPhee
-Ron Smith
-Rob McClennan
-Ted Gaillard

These guys all make top notch barrels.

I have a .30 Cal McPhee stainless steel AMTU contour barrel (26.5 long, 1 in 11.3" twist) and it shoots like a laser............:D

SKBY.

How about some contact information on makers. Random names in most of these 'barrel' threads are gettin pretty pointless, which is likely why this thread keeps coming up
