Just heard from Bill (Pres of Aim Projectiles) who has been on a cross country odyssey since some Gawd-awful hour on Wednesday morning last week. First stop on his journey was the IPSC N.B. Provincial Championships at the Springfield Range in Fredericton, and he is now on-site at the Atlantic Marksmen Association's Ralph Dunn Range in Halifax for the IPSC Canadian Championships match.
He called just to tell me how impressed he has been by the absolutely inhuman effort that is going on out there right now in Halifax as the final preparations for the Nationals are in full swing. Everyone is putting in some freakish hours and the ranges are looking fantastic. He warned me that I am in for an amazing match and I am seriously looking forward to it. The woods run stage sounds like it is going to be an adrenaline monster!
Specifically, Bill wanted to thank George and his match staff in New Brunswick for having us there, and also the a big thanks to the match committee in Halifax. Since Aim Projectiles is a new company, this is the first time Bill has seen an event of this magnitude, and I got the impression that for him it is kind of awe-inspiring to see people volunteering this much time and effort and not asking anything in return. It occurs to me how much we all tend to take this stuff in stride after a while, but really, these people are quite amazing when you get right down to it. Just before his cell died, I think he mentioned that he might just throw in a few extra boxes of bullets as a "thank you" to the folks who are breaking their backs right now getting things ready for us all to come and enjoy.
Anyway, it sounds like a herculean effort has made up for some pretty crappy weather throwing a wrench in the giant machine of preparation, and they have prevailed. By all accounts we are all in for a helluva ride.
I'll see you all there on Wednesday! Only two more sleeps.....
