Looking to order some duracoat paint however unsure if there are dealers in Canada. There used to be a seller in Quebec but they aren't around anymore. I can order direct but the shipping cost is higher than the actual cost of the product.

I'm open to the idea of cerakote but I don't have experience applying the product. I have applied plenty of duracoat though.

Gunkote and Armacoat have same process as Duracoat I believe. I've used both without issue.

oh right, forgot about Armacoat. Will take a look thanks.

Duracoat is a two part application. Comes with the paint and a hardener that you mix together before application. Not sure how the others are, if they are mixed or you just add to airbrush and spray.

Armacoat Canada. I've used him on multiple occasions, and he's great to deal with. Cera-coat needs to be baked, I believe. Arma-coat used to advertise the same thing, so I called and talked with him. Arma-coat will air cure, the same as Dura-coat, and it is now in their literature. The only downside to Arma-coat is that they have limited colors compared to Dura-coat.

Well SH!T.... His website doesn't list for sale anymore. Okay, I'm going to have to "follow" this thread, cause I'm going to need some in a month or so, and hopefully you guys will find me what I need.

I painted 3 rifles about 2 years and could not find a Canadian Dealer anywhere.
Decided to order directly from Duracoat -and I ordered enough to do all my rifles at the time to re-coup the extra costs (hazardous material charge levied by UPS).

I have some airbrushing experience by my teens and 20s, and I had followed their instructions to the letter.... but I find that Duracoat is not all that "durable."

If I every do this again (and I might), then I will just buy some quality automotive paint from a local body shop...

For the most part there's not a huge difference between most of the quality finishes. At the end of the day the quality of your prep work will be a much bigger factor in the outcome than which brand you use.

Personally I use KG and I'm very happy. You don't need to mix, they're ready to shoot from the can and 4GT normally has a good inventory of colors.

As mentioned above, Dura and Cera have zero distribution in Canada and ordering direct is sometimes more trouble than it's worth.

Frank at Cerakote BC does a great job. He's done a few jobs for me and always great service with excellent results.
He's in Hope BC.
