I'm looking for a Canadian gunsmith with prior successful experience in performing trigger jobs on BLR Lightweight rifles. (mine is 2013 production).

My current factory trigger is 4Kg (8.8 lb). I would like a trigger weight of around half that, which is the Browning factory spec (4.5 lbs).
I have zero confidence in the designated Canadian Browning warranty depot staff based on recent reports.

"Trigger - Wide groove design trigger with short, smooth pull of approximately 4½ lbs. Trigger travels with lever."

Any suggestions?

I know it's technically feasible, I've seen successful reports from US users. (ht tp://www.neiljones.com/)
There is enough complexity to timing the BLR rack and pinion mechanism that many gunsmiths won't touch their internals.
I'll respect a tradesman who knows their limitations.

Thanks

Timing the rack and pinion is easy but you don't need to take the whole gun apart. I used to do it... it's trial and error method... alter and polish the sears, assemble and test, alter and polish, assemble and test, repeat as required ... hopefully the target weight and crispness is reached before the error that requires new factory parts and start all over.. I never had to start over but it was too time consuming and the thought of new parts... so I quit doing it. I don't need the challenge or the stress...

If you bought the rifle new and it doesn't qualify for the 4.5 lbs as the factory specs says,
is this not a warranty issue?
Find a Browning repair shop and see if they'll do it for you.
I believe Reliable is one, maybe give them a call?

Given the complexity of getting a proper trigger pull weight on the BLR, is it realistic to expect to have a proper job done by a warranty depot?

I was labouring under the mistaken impression there was only a single Cdn warranty depot for Browning,
but after further research I learned that was apparently incorrect.

I've read horrible negative reviews for L'Armurier Alain Bouchard Inc. in Quebec, so I would never consider that depot.

Reliable Gun and Tackle *is* a listed Browning depot, but they are on the other side of the continent from me,
which wouldn't be my first choice because of transport logistics in the absence of a positive testimonial about their
ability to rework BLR triggers.

My possible choices excluding the problem child depot would be:

Bashaw Sports Centre
CALGARY SHOOTING CENTRE LTD
Reliable Gun and Tackle
JENNINGS OUTDOOR SPORTS
Randy's Gun Repair
W R Longs LTD
SALT LAKE GUNS LTD

I've read that D(avid) Henry Gunmakers Ltd in Bentley, AB does good BLR triggers.

Any further feedback on this gentleman's BLR trigger work?

Darn, missed the name connection. Another prospect that fizzled.

Now I'm left at the mercy of warranty processes that are focused on swapping parts, not fitting them.

Check the Calgary Shooting Centre's forum. I believe they have a master gunsmith of European training who might be able to give you what you want.
