I had a very nice, almost excellent condition Norwegian 6.5x55mm Steyr 1897 built Krag rifle with original issue sling. I sold it awhile ago on the EE.
Here are some pictures of it -

That 1903 is the manufacture date. It is an 1896. One of the converted sporters made up for the Canadian market. For some reason, 6.5x54MS was easier to get at the time than 6.5 Swede. Go Figure. I got rid of mine as it would keyhole and had about a 6' group @ 100 yars.
Thanks for the Id![]()
Wow 6' group at 100 yds is like minute of elephant! I've snagged a half box of imported German shells silver jacketed none the less... Time to cut 'Er loose then lol ! Would anyone venture a range, reasonable ask/list price ? I definitely overpaid... I thought it was a MS sporter going by the 'ol LGR certificate![]()
I would hesitate to pay over $175 unless the bore was pristine. I know they are asking over 200 these days but I don't know if they are selling at that.
I'm not into reloading and don't have room for wall hangers so guess I'll put her up for trade and see what trolls along !
A Krag is definitely on my list. No luck grabbing one yet
I only have 2 WW1 Krags. 1916 Norwegian and a 1917 Danish. Anyone have a spare Norwegian sling to sell me? JohnHey, do any of you guys north of the line collect Krags? I understand that a lot of Norski Krags came into Canada as milsurp back in the '60s. I'm a Kraggie of long standing and own 16 (or is it 17?) of them - all US except one Norski and one Dane. I think they're ###iest, finest shooting bolt action military rifle of all time.
But then I'm sort of prejudiced on the subject!![]()
