I picked this one up off the book stand in Wally World today. It is a 96 page magazine style book on the Korean War and is lavishly illustrated with photos, maps, and details of Canadian army, navy and air force participation in the Korean War. MILSURP and military history devotees will find this interesting for the photos alone which show details of various small arms, crew served weapons, and vehicles. It even shows pics of the M10 Achilles tank destroyer, mounting the 17pdr gun, that equipped the LdSH (RC) armoured sqn on their initial deployment. These were sent because of the T-34 tank threat in Korea, but were quickly set aside in favour of standard M4A3E8 Sherman tanks because of their unsuitability in support of infantry due to their open topped turret, lack of coax and hull mounted MGs and light armour-all proven shortcomings in WW2. Price is $14.95 and it is on display until 5 March.
