These "prototype Service Rifles" are routinely trotted out by Colt Canada in an effort to tantalize domestic and foreign procurement officials into action (which mostly never materializes). It is just a way for Colt to showcase their newest developments, which in this case appear to be a revised, LE-901-style Lower Receiver with integrated ambi Mag Release, and a Huxworx-style flow-through/low backpressure Suppressor.

It definitely doesn't mean that Canadian procurement will follow every time Colt Canada paints a rifle Tan.....

CMAR is a DND program, not a CC program. CC doesn't just design stuff unless DND asks for it and pays for it - generally. CMAR shown is an adapted Colt M5 lower with MRR upper. This is down the line from original test guns requested by DND. Will it be the final version? maybe, maybe not - time will tell.

Do we really need to replace what already works? Perhaps we could just use some new ones with rails, optics and timmies cup holders built in? I do want the best for our soldiers, but the C7 and C8 are pretty good rifles that are already being built in Kitchener. Although I presume this is just a make money competition to grease some palms and Colt will make them anyways.

The Colt Canada rifles are excellent. Would anything be gained by replacing them?
A serious commitment to training in effective use would be a very good thing.

Yes. We can't have them because our Prime Minister, everyone in his party, and those who support the party, are sub-human cave dwellers who live in fear of their own shadows (Most certainly their fellow citizens). Troglodytes!
Sometimes I wonder if all the last NR rifles that are not banned were picked because they either are unreliable or ultra expensive

CADPAT Multi-Terrain (MT). Their spin on one camo for everything, no more arid pattern. Well, at least until the next war in the dessert. đź‘€

I am glad the CAF has a new mid-spectrum set of combats, but removing TW is a mistake, it is needed for both dark woods and jungle warfare.

What is the new CAF mid-spectrum camouflage called: https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/attachments/screenshot_20240816-223907_facebook-jpg.804534/ unless that is just a faded-out CADPAT?

I hope the CAF notes the new Medium Machine Gun and cartridge .338 Norma Magnum being tested by SOCOM! https://www.defensenews.com/land/20...set-to-pick-light-machine-gun-in-new-caliber/ Much better than the CAF 7.62mm.
I would think magnum rounds in a machine gun would serve no purpose other than that of barrel burner? How does a magnum round keep their heads down any better than .308?

A 6.8 conversion for the 240 is around, that along will be much better than 7.62.

The Medium MG in 338 is BIG and the rounds are BIG. Maybe when the robotic mules are around to carry all the stuff it will be a good idea. Until then, 6.8 is the way to go.

Their priority should be replacing the POS C9 and the inadequate C79 with something like the Evolys and Aimpoint + magnifier + ballsitic cam - from LMG to a more light weight "assault" MG.
