Canadian property marked Colt New Service question

Interested in a Colt New Service .45 with Canadian property stamp (broad arrow inside 'C') and lanyard ring. What I am curious about is the standard barrel marking 'COLT D.A. 45' was partial ground away. The 'D.A. 45' was crudely replaced with '45LC'. Was this a common Canadian practice to perhaps distinguish it from a .455? Thanks for any input, Don

Can you post pictures? That is definitely non standard
 
Sorry Lee Enfield, viewed at a Tucson gun show this week-end. I recall the Canadian property mark stamp and 'crossed flags'(?) as well. Grips were checkered plastic or wood, no Colt logo. Ejector rod end was the type on my M1909, not the smaller end like on the M1917. Thanks for your response, hearing it's non standard, my interest in waning. Cheers, Don
