Hello, I've got an opportunity to purchase one of these and want to be fair to the seller. What are the values of these things and what should I be looking for in stamps to confirm its what it supposed to be.

Is that the pcmr 30-30 u speak of ? The one used by the shore command? If so i have one that was my great grandfathers. It has a crows foot stanp in the forestock, receiver and buttstock if im not misstaken? It doesnt leave the safe very often

If it a PCMR as mentioned in the second post and stamped as such in good condition, $500 wouldn't be enough.
How much more to be fair would be up to you and the seller.
I know Mr. H. found one it was a good conversation piece.
Do a bit of research on them to understand the flavour they have.

Good luck.

Edit to note: if my memory serves me correct, there was the odd Marlin in the bunch they used as well.

There was a discussion on here a while back and these were typed about.
Some didn't give them the value they deserved.
Don't let it git away.

A couple of well used but not abused Winchester Model 1894 .30-30 carbines in the 1,33x,### serial number range, with the C broad arrow stamps on butt, receiver, & foreend, former PCMR WWII war time issue, sold at one of the local gunshops in the $800 - $850 range within the past year.

And buddy bought a much nicer one recently in a private deal for $1K cash.

NAA.

In good shape between 750-1000 is my guess.

For the high end it should be complete, in good condition, have all three stamps, and the "field expedient" front sling mount.

Note that the Rangers did not all use/have the front sling mount that was locally manufactured though.

If it has the Ranger's receipt from when it was purchased from the government I would add another $250
