Canadian Red Ensigns

Just received an email from The Flag Shop advertising the Flags for Vimy Ridge anniversary.
Might be worth looking into.

Ordered the Blue Ensign for my boat since Her Majesty owns 35 of the 100 shares, being a federally registered vessel, of it.
I will fly it on Canada Day proudly.

I will be in Cobourg harbour that day and I love it. The Cobourg marching band leads the parade in full red uniforms and white pith helmets
and they play " The Maple Leaf Forever" instead of O Canada. I love the town that is locked in the past and is not ashamed to show it.

I'd like very much to get a red ensign that is small and has velcro backing to go on my jacket.

The Red Ensign IMHO is, was, and ever shall be, the national flag of Canada. Canadians went to war four times under the Red Ensign. It is the only national flag that will ever fly on my property. FFS, even Hawaii still displays the Union Jack on their flag.

I have also only ever flown the Union Flag on my property.

Green leaves, not red leaves.

While I respect the service of those who fought under the union jack, I wouldn't fly it or any derivative thereof. That country has firearm laws that ought to be declared unconstitutional anywhere that considers itself to be a free country.

At the risk of being accused of being pedantic, the Red Ensign was indeed the national flag of Canada as there was an OIC that it could be flown on all federal buildings as the nation's flag in 1945, it merely wasn't the country's official flag by act of Parliament. It's splitting hairs, perhaps, but accurate from where I look at it.

At any rate, I consider it the Dominion of Canada's official flag. Yes, I live in the past. I still call July 1 Dominion Day as well.
