Canadian SMG Shoot ?

Opening the can of worms:

Some (most?) of the gun laws are just stupid for lack of a better word.

For example, I simply do not understand the need to register a Gewehr 71.84 or a Vetterli-Vitali 1870-87-15. You must carefully hand load for both or risk a breech failure. Sadly, they are lumped into the same non-restricted category alongside newly made black rifles when in the U.S. both of the previous rifles are considered antiques.

Don't get me started on the barrel length for my Lugers and the prohibited firearm destruction down the road. Plenty of those historical Mauser pocket pistols, for example, that will be melted down to make new sports cars for all of those gun hating politicians. That should be classified as a crime against history.

I saw an all matching wartime dated MP-40 that looked very good at a local gun show a year or two back. She was still in full auto with her matching magazine. We all know where she is going to probably end up once the owner passes on.

Come on Harper, get the registry on the chopping block already...

Closing the can of worms.

I dont think Harper will be changing the laws to let us shoot our fullauto/converted auto anytime soon ..he said he would scrap the long gun registry ..now he is saying the provinces can start up thier own registries ..call me cynical but i think we are and will be fu7ked ...the conservatives called me tonight looking for more money i said i would when and if i can shoot my ca's again ...yep ive spent alot of cash and time getting him his majority now its time for some payback to all of us...just my 2cents

He is aware of this. He'll be beholden to gun owners once he trashes the voter subsidy nonsense. He'll eventually see it our way.

Yes, we used to be able to shoot FAs and CAs and it was
1. a LOT of fun
2. NO banks were robbed
3. NO convenience stores were stuck up
4. NO schools were invaded
5. It was just Real People having fun.

But the gun-grabbers and the Antis just HAD to hurt someone..... so they hurt US.

Harper MUST listen to us. One thing he must remember is that it was US that Avril Phaedra Campbell ticked off, resulting in the total destruction of the Progressive Conservative Party. And it is US who supported him through minority after minority and finally got him elected.

We're not asking for anything that costs money. We ARE, though, DEMANDING that we be treated as Citizens rather than as SUBJECTS or SERFS. The day of tugging one's forelock when one's Betters approach is long gone. The Government SAYS that we are Free Citizens; we simply want to be TREATED as Free Citizens.

And, to me, that means taking my Reising and my 1A1 out to the range and, maybe, if Lew is there, putting a couple of mags through an MP-40.

"The first law that Buddha gave is to live the harmless life." I can say that I follow that; can the Government say the same?

I doubt it.

CITIZENSHIP or SERFDOM.

It's Harper's choice.

And ours.

WE pay him and WE control who gets elected.

And WE have PROVEN that.

X2. I do not want to buy a full-auto, ever. I don't have the money for the ammo nor am I interested in missing my target all the time. However, what I don't like is that other people cannot enjoy their property. I'm with you on this one. We must all pressure our government into doing the right thing.

well no banks were robbed but here in hamilton a few years back one of my old stens (which i sold legally then was stolen from that owner) was used to hose down a bar on barton st. no one was hurt but i was hauled into the cop shop ...i told them to go find the criminal not the guy who sold it legally...toooo funny

Smellie: Avril Phaedra Campbell, indeed! How many of us know that that is her legal name?

I have a personally signed reply from her (about pending gun control Bill, of course), using her full name as above.

A keeper , eh?

Some (most?) of the gun laws are just stupid for lack of a better word.

They are ALL stupid and useless. I am not going to say anymore beyond noting that Vermont and Alaska have NO state firearms laws whatsoever and no crime issues to go along with that situation.

If we get a rerun of C-301 with the ATT rolled into the RPAL then 12(X) owners will again be able to shoot their prohibs. We must push them for that and let them know that simply removing the LGR is NOT acceptable, there must be more done to correct a much larger number of the multitude of wrongs in the firearms act. I would prefer to see all of C-17 and C-68 rolled back at once, but that isn't going to happen anytime soon in our current political climate.

..now he is saying the provinces can start up thier own registries ..

The feds cannot stop a province from regulating private property as that is provincial jurisdiction. How would you suggest they stop a province from exercising its constitutional jurisdiction? But they don't have to help the provinces and they can keep a close eye on any registries, as they cannot be defacto criminal law. Both of which I think the CPC are indicating they will do.

I imagine there will be lots of guns go missing when estates are settled up in the coming years. "Gee, I don't know, they're not here. Grandpa was a bit senile toward the end, you know."

And that's a good thing.

Has anyone else noticed how some firearms you transfer, the description or type on the transfer notification is just wrong and the serial number isn't completely there ?

The whole registration process is a joke, I feel like I am on probation every time I call in.

I bet you the amount of firearms that are registered are widely overshadowed by unregistered ones for a variety of reasons.

I am sure we can all think of 1001 other ways to spend our taxpayer dollars.

I think the can of worms fell on the floor now...

I have been told by a source I trust that ~65% of the entries in the LGR have errors of some sort in them. In the couple of dozen I have dealt with I have found several errors, including incorrect serial numbers.

There are at least 14 million guns in Canada and possibly upwards of 21 million. 7 million are registered. Prior to C-68, estimates said 4-7 million gun owners. 1.8 million are licensed. At best we have 50% compliance with both registration and licensing, possibly as low as ~33%. That is a whole lot of civil disobedience from a generally very law abiding group of citizens.

Hang around the politics forum for a while, we like worms. ;)

Avril was a hypocrite of the first water - I met a guy who worked on her detail, he was shocked to see a 38 in her purse. When he asked about it she said, "well you guys can't always be with me." She wasn't prepared to spend one second unprotected, but wanted every other woman in Canada to be a potential victim, rather than have the right to defend herself the way Avril would. My favorite full auto story is the guy in Ontario who, several days after re-registering his full autos into the new system, reported that he had misplaced them. The firearms? A MAC10 and a Bren. I can just picture it, "well officer, I'm sure I put the Bren on the coffee table, but when I went back it was gone!

There is no substitute for the joy of full auto:-(

True, but unless you get someone else to pay for the ammo... The novelty wears thin after a while :D
