Does anyone know a source for Freedom Arms accessories in Canada? I'm looking for a .45 Colt cylinder for a model 83 .454

This is factory installation only. They do line boring the cylinder and that must be done when cylinder is installed on the frame. If not done that way, accuracy cannot be obtained what made FA famous world wide.

Because you have the option of ordering the other cylinder when you (or the dealer / distributor) places the order for the gun from Freedom Arms.

Prolonged use of shorter case will create some kind of residue build up. If not removed prior to shooting 454 round, you might be able to slip loaded round in the chamber, but after bullets starts to move, case crimp will try to open but deposit is there… Without going in too many details, already very high 454 pressure will go much higher, and even incredibly strong FA revolver could blow up. With a number of powders available today, you can load 454 from mild to wild, just do not use any of the fillers in reloading, see http://yarchive.net/gun/ammo/wads.html

We order the guns on a regular basis, and as earlier pointed out, the only way to achieve your goal is to have the factory do it.

As Onty explains, the 454 chamber is obviously longer than the standard .45 colt. Since much of the heavy weight 454 ammo is roll crimped, a round will still likely fit into even a heavily fouled chamber. On firing, it's like firing a 3 inch shell in a non-backbored 2 3/4 inch chamber.
