Buffalo Target Shooters Association is again hosting the Canadian National Steel Challenge Championship August 9/10 and we would love to see you out there!

We’ve got some fantastic sponsors providing incredible door prizes including Apex Optics (title sponsor), FH Munitions, Sterling Arms, Creekside Customs/Crazy Ivan, Volquartsen Firearms, Wiland USA, and more.

No experience or black badge required, though you will need an SCSA/USPSA membership (uspsa.org/join). Junior shooters who can operate their firearm with minimal assistance are also welcome.

Match website for more information: Steelchallenge.ca

Registration: https://practiscore.com/canadian-national-steel-challenge-championship-2025/register

Questions?: steel@btsa.club

If you’d like to come out for some practice before hand, we have 4 stage steel challenge matches every Wednesday evening during the summer (search BTSA under the matches tab on PractiScore.com) as well as a weekend 8 stage match on July 20.

A valid IPSC membership works a well. Rule 6.1.1 in the USPSA steel challenge rulebook

Thank you for bringing that to my attention. That rule was not present in the 2024 rule book. In my several conversations with uspsa regarding the fee structure, this rule had never come up as one of our arguments for lowering fees was that Canadian ipsc shooters were needing a second membership. We always went by appendix A1 which specifies that all competitors must be scsa members for any level 2+ match (and is still on the books).

I will reach out to uspsa to confirm.

I just want to go see it.
We’d be happy to have you out to spectate. Just bring your eye/ear protection, though we normally have a few sets on hand. Keep in mind that this is an “all skill levels” type event and there will be everything from a couple of world wide top 5 shooters down to 10 year olds who have only shot a couple of matches.

We haven’t heard back yet but, given the timeframe, are proceeding with the plain reading of the rules which indicates we can accept an IPSC membership in place of a USPSA/SCSA one.
