Hello all!

I've been mauling the idea of putting together a light, small caliber muzzleloading rifle for some time now. The question is, where in Canada (if In Canada) can a guy get the bits and parts to do it? I simple Google search will bring up many sites dedicated to BP rifle builders state side. But not a single source here. Perhaps you fine gentlemen may know a place or two off the beaten interwebs that supply things as barrels and such? I'd rather not deal with boarder issues and stress.

Thanks much.

Ti

There is no border issues getting a flintlock kit from the states as they are not considered firearms. I have dealt with a few of these companies and they all ship to canada. Really great to deal with.

I would look at

Track of the wolf
Sitting fox muzzleloaders
Muzzleloader builders supply
Jim chambers
North star west
Dixiegunworks
York county firelocks (pistols only)

Cheers, McLean

Border issues only apply to percussion lock's. Flinters don't count. Use Yahoo and tell it to search for Canadian sites. Still won't be much if any. There are BP builders and importers here, but no kits. Just remember that BP rifles run roughly 100% higher in price here than they do Stateside.

The only border issue with percussion rifles is the Canadian requirement for a PAL to take possession from the post office/customs.

Hello. I just started to buy the parts to build a 32 cal flintlock and I'm getting everything from the us. Track of the wolf is your best bet they ship to your door. but there are lots of suppliers. Good luck with your build. M.R.

Well, fancy that now! I would have thought that with parts such as barrels, a hop through a hoop or two may be in order. I thank you all for the reassurance and very helpful info! I guess it's time to start making a list.;)

Thanks much!

There is a chap in Harvey, New Brunswick who fixes and sells only flintlock. He has kits. Join the NB Hunting Forum, his particulars are listed there.

Muzzle loader Builders Supply in Idaho does not do international orders any more. You can buy any M-L parts you want from the USA without any border issues except GST and a handling fee. No border brokers required.

Yes they do, I just spoke with them the other day about placing an order for two pistols and he said it was no problem to ship to canada.

Check out Pecatonica Longrifle Supply for good wood at reasonable prices. I have bought several stocks from them. Didn't have a good experience with Tiger Hunt.

I'm looking into H&A Underhammer rifle and I don't see anyone having those up here.

I'm in touch with one company in US and I'm traing to find out what kind of paperwork would be needed to get one.
