Hello everyone,

I'm a Canadian living abroad in New Zealand. I collect Swedish firearms, particularly Swedish Mausers - m96's, m38's, etc. I am looking at returning back home to Canada within the next few years or so, and will be looking at getting my PAL and RPAL once settled after a while. I'm a huge fan of milsurps, and they are pretty available here in NZ, but not entirely sure what availability is like in Canada. Would someone be able to give me some idea?

In addition I'm also interested in what the going rate is for an m96, m38, m96/38, m94 carbine, and AG42B... if anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!!

There were only about 500K m/96's made, but a large proportion of them were imported to Canada. We can thank in part the US' more restrictive import rules after the Gun Control Act (GCA) of 1968 was instituted. Sweden started exporting a large amount of their surplus firearms and other military equipment starting in the 1950's, and quite a bit went to the Dominican Republic as well. That's where the Swedish 8X63 ammo went before Marstar imported it to Canada about 15 years ago.

Swedish mausers are the most accurate of all issued bolt guns, that includes the Swiss k 31's.
It seems they are less expensive here than on American gun broker.

AG-42b 350-550$, relatively common (walked into the local gun store the other day and they had 2 for 400$ each).
M96 250-400$ picked up a nice 1899 Mauser Oberndorf, all matching except for nose cap for 250$ the other day.
M38 and M96/38 250-450$
M94, depending on if they know what they have you should be in the 800-1400$ range.

You can also get the M1907 (around 300-450$), M1887 (around 400-500$), and Lathi M40 (around 800-1000$).

Wow great!! This is incredible. Looks like I'll be having a good time back home. They seem to be infinitely more available in Canada than here in New Zealand.
Thank you all for your input.
