I've heard that some Canadians bring their handguns into the US and carry concealed. Especially in border states like Alaska and Vermont where no permit is required to carry. There are also steps you can take to get non-resident permits from states like Florida and Utah and you can carry in all the states which those permits are honored in. Have any of you guys ever done this?

U.S. Federal law prohibits non-immigrant aliens from having firearms or ammo in their possession unless it's for hunting or target shooting or a gun show/trade show with the proper ATF permits(Form 6) or a State hunting licence. A State issued CCW permit does not satisfy either of these.
