SORRY GUYS. SEE POST 93 FOR INFO.
That's right, CQB is coming to Edmonton! CGN's very own Longshot has been kind enough to pack all his CQB goodies into his truck and hit the highway!
He'll be bringing his knowledge, targets, stands, other assorted goodies and sharing it with us! By the end of it all, we'll have a glimpse into what these crazy West Coasters have so much fun doing, learn how to do it, and run a full blown match at the end!
We'll be holding a clinic on the 26th during the day (figure on an 8-10 hour day on the range) with the match being held on the 27th at the CHAS Genessee range. Sample CoF can be viewed here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4z_M4hMOJmwTUg5d0ZscFlMNjA/edit?usp=sharing Note that the CoF we'll be shooting could be different. Figure on at least 300 rounds of rifle and 100 pistol ammo for the duration of the weekend... These are conservative estimates. I know I'll be bringing a bunch more than that, bearing in mind that Sunday's match should run us about 150 rifle and 50 pistol.
Gear you'll need: Rifle w/ 5x mags (minimum,) Pistol w/ 2x mags (minimum,) a means of carrying all your mags (vest, plate carrier, chest rig, battle belt... you get the idea,) holster with enough retention to keep the pistol secure while moving (buckle, strap, proper tension screws, that sort of thing) a sling that will keep the rifle in front of you (most of the common 1 and 2 point slings do this, I know my Magpul MS3 and Blackhawk Bungee do) and of course EYE AND EAR PRO IS MANDATORY!
Of course, you're probably wondering what this is going to cost, over and above ammo and stuff... Well, since Longshot is making the trek from BC with a truck load of targets and other goodies, it's going to run about $100 per person, plus a $20 guest fee for NON-CHAS members. The guest fee will have you covered for the whole weekend. Once Longshot's costs (accomodations, fuel, food, etc.) are covered, any money left over will be used to buy targets, stands and everything else needed to get an Edmonton-based CQB league operational, so that future shoots cost less.
Since the man himself knows more about what he's going to teach us than I do, I'll let him explain when he chimes in on this thread. I will be adding updates as the days progress.
We're looking at a minimum of 40 confirmed and committed shooters for this one, so don't delay! Throw your hat in the ring!
Just so that everyone is aware of a few things: Facilities at CHAS are fairly spartan. We do have port-a-johns that are maintained, but no running water. You might want to consider packing a cooler with snacks and lunch for the day too. I'm not 100% certain if we have a barbecue grill out there, I'll be finding out in the next week or so (If one of the locals wants to volunteer their grill, that would be awesome) and maybe we can all pitch in and have a hamburger/smokie feast. I'll leave that part open for discussion. That being said, I'm doubtful anyone will want to roast weenies over a burn barrel
I'm working on an official entry form that will be available for download and completion. I'll put up the link as soon as I get it finished.
For those of you who have asked me where to send the EMT... DON'T. Longshot and I discussed it, and cash in hand works better for both of us. That way we don't have to deal with waiting for a pile of cheques to clear, or sorting out EMTs and the like. Hell, I'm not even set up for EMT.
If you have any questions regarding logistics, feel free to send me a PM or post it up here. Clinic and match related stuff that hasn't already been mentioned, send them to Longshot!
