As the tittle says. Is it possible to use .243 die and components to reload the 6mm Remington.I've got a bunch of .308 that I could neck size down if its possible. Thanks for your replies.Jim

Give 'er a whirl.....that's how some of our greatest inventions are discovered, someone tries something that's really dumb, dangerous, and should never be done by anyone not familiar with what they are doing......and guess what...it works.

MY IMR book lists.

IMR 4064
38 grains max
100 gr bullet
2945 fps

I'd start at 35gr and work up from there.

Or they lose body parts and become a Darwinian lesson for the rest or us. :D 6mm Rem is based on the 7 X 57 case, not the 308 case, so they will be too short no matter what you do to them. Just buy a set of the proper dies. There are lots of cases where you can substitute loading dies, but 243 to 6mm isn't really one of them. - dan

Listen up you guys! He asked if he could size a 6mm case (longer) in a 243 die (shorter) It is possible to neck size a 6mm case in a 243 die as long as he adjusts it properly. No problem at all. But he must make sure the brass was previously fired in his rifle. Other than that, It will work. Not ideal, but workable. The 308 cases cannot be made into 6mm brass, however. Regards, Eagleye.

Thanks again guys.Got the message. No .308 cases to 6mm.When I read that the parent case was 7x57 I knew I was barking up the wrong tree.
