Hi guys,, need help deciding on which one,, they both have the threaded barell ,,the lite weighs about 10oz less,, which doesnt really bother me,, just cant decide which one to buy..both same price, (frontier firearms) im leaning towards the aluminum slided lite..but i feel it wont last "forever" like the steel slided reg 22/45.. can i get some advice from one of my fellow gun nuts plzzzzzzzz :)

I find that the 22/45 is rather top-heavy, so the 22/45 lite might help remedy that problem, and make it more balanced. I've only held one, and it is indeed very light.

I have the bull barrel version and love it. I find the weight eats what little recoil .22 has and as such one can shoot this as fast as you can pull the trigger and still get loonie size groups at 15m. If we could carry them in the bush I would go lite, but since its range only I would recommend the heavy barrel.

I have both a 22/45 target barrel and the 22/45 Lite. Personally I prefer the heftier weight of the bull barrel however the Lite looked to cool not to buy. It also shoots great. No difference in accuracy between the two.
Just avoid confrontation with youself and buy both!!

Only Con for the Lite (I found out the hard way) is that no after-market sights are available, yet. Something to consider anyway, I still love the Lite.

What sort of shooting will you be doing with the gun? If it's going to be mostly paper punching and a bit of Speed Steel or similar I'd suggest the all steel gun. It seems to me that the biggest advantage of the LITE model is the lack of weight. But a light gun is really only at its best when you're carrying it in a holster on a trail. Something we simply can't realistically do here in Canada. For all the rest of the uses I can think of the heavier mass of the steel gun will help. Unless it's a gun which would be used by a smaller girl or younger kids frequently. Then the lack of weight could be an advantage. For anyone else a little extra weight aids in steadying the gun during aiming.

It will take the Williams rear-sights (same as the 22/45 Mark III)

Anyone know where the 22/45 lite can be purchased? Whos stocking them in canada? I love my 22/45 hunter stainless and want to try the shorter bbl lite version. Thanks,

T

After posting this i was able to find one

My new Ruger 22-45 Lite just came in the mail today. Very nice gun. I've been trying to get my wife shooting, but she has never clicked with the guns that I have. After I handed her the new Ruger, she smiled and said "Now that's perfect." Now I'm not going to say that it is "perfect" because the trigger can't really compare to my 1911, the mags don't always seat without a good thump, it has the dreaded mag disconnect safety and I would really have gone for drop free mags...., but overall I'm very pleased. Anyone looking to encourage new shooters should get one.

This will be a great gun with the modifications necessary to get rid of the mag disconnect and a spring kit. I've modded a couple now and they are better once you do those few simple things. I can consistently shoot under 1 inch at 25 yards now with my 22/45 hunter stainless after doing those mods. I can't wait to try the lite!
