Hi all,

As the title of the thread suggests, I can't decide on my next purchase.

I'm debating on either a Glock 17 Gen 5, or a Sig P320.

I would be interested to hear some feedback some those of you that have shot both.

With that being said, I'm looking at this for the long term. Which will have the best long term support, and which one will have parts around for the next while to come?

I'm looking at purchasing a base model (one with contrast sights), and will build onto it as the time goes on.

Many thanks!

Considering that parts may end up also being frozen(banned), I’d buy whatever you can get two of now or one of and a complete set of replacement parts.

Let me be the first one to say this. Just get both if it doesn't hurt your wallet. Lol however, glocks are hard to find. But there's one retailer I saw where you can buy now but will only bring it in from the USA once transfer is approved. I'll let you know if you want the link. I need to look it up again.

I just bought a p320 xfull from Prophet. They still have a bunch of this model and the basic one in stock. The xfull has front night sights and frame is a little different and a hundred bucks or so more.

The versions prophet is selling are full metal frames. I like metal but wouldn't mind polymer too. I shot the glocks many years ago but I'm a sig fan. They're both good, IMO but I'm not an expert bc I haven't shot glocks enough. However, if I see a glock 17 or 19, I'm going to get it too. I already have a berreta apx in the pipeline. Reviewers say it's like a glock but I have no idea. I just know I wanted a polymer and that's the closest thing I can find that's price well for a firearm I don't really want now but probably will in the future.

Correction: I appears when the description says FRAME MATERIAL: Stainless Steel I misunderstood it as the entire lower part of the handgun is metal like a P226... I messed up. It looks like it means the insides is a metal frame but outer shell below the slide is polymer which is called the grip module. Oh well... I would have bought it anyway. lol However, the P320 AXG is suppose to be all metal.

What he said. Forget long-term support, warranty, service ...An import ban comes with a parts ban followed by a complete ban.

It will be interesting to see when and if this will happen. So far, I'm still seeing AR parts readily for sale from left over stock is my guess. My next step is buy some parts. I can't justify buying 2 of the same handgun. It would be cool but no can do. Most of us will have to resort to making our own parts in a cave but when and if there is a complete ban, then we'll end up with safe queens and then I wouldn't even know if my parts I made functioned or not.

its arms east and the link is right at the top middle of the page. P320 are available all over the place too.
I think something major to consider is that both of these guns are some of the most commonly found pistols on the used market because they’re both boring or people buy them for the hype as first timers and realize they aren’t cool after a few range trips.

Perhaps instead of boring, these models are by far the most sold guns and there’s just more of these than others models. So not necessarily a downside. Did you see how fast glocks get snatched up?

True. Most mass-produced and available, heavily marketed. I admit the Glock platform is arguably the most reliable gun on the market and they shoot very well. But there’s not much to them, and usually ship with bad sights, horrible triggers. So then guys instantly feel like they should have got more for the $900+ they’re spending on them. P320 though.. I really don’t get the appeal. It’s like a top-heavy school bus. Sure… parts and modularity. But nobody’s gun parts should be failing in under 5k rounds. And that’s a lot of money and time spent to get to that point for most shooters.

part of the reason these guns got so much military approval and the associated marketing and fanboy status, was the fact they are capable of mass-producing enough for military contracts plus the enormous us civilian market.

just keep your eyes open to alternatives that experienced reviewers are giving praise to. CZ P-10 /P-09, Canik Rival, Walther PDP etc.

long term view, get an optics-ready version
glocks are mostly reliable out of the box, yet people sink enormous amounts of $$$ on "improvements" to make them less reliable.
p320 xfull rxp on order. there are many versions, look for one where you can install optics and keep the rear iron sight.

can't go wrong with a steel da/sa cz - shadow 2, shadow sp01, shadowline, 75b.
ts2 is currently available from a few site sponsors.

As much as I love Glock, I would have to say the P320. It is really the AR15 of the pistol world. It has excellent modularity and most models are optics ready out of the box.

I have more P320 than Glocks for the reason that the whole thing(minus the stainless FCU) is changeable so after the ban, I don’t have to worry about babying the frame for cosmetic reasons. It’s cheap to replace.

New grip modules will fall under the parts ban. Best to buy one or two more.

I decided to grab that p320 xfull from prophet. Looks like a pretty good deal all things considered.

I do have a G22 Gen 4, with a 9mm conversion barrel, and after some thought I decided to widen my overall collection a bit with another brand.

The modularity on the P320 is something else though.

I just don't see a parts ban being a thing. Look at the AR ban, parts are still widely available.

The only time i see them putting a ban on parts like recoil springs etc, would be if they outright banned the pistols, and offered a mandatory buy back.

Just my thoughts on it.

I considered grabbing a Walther PDP. Honestly, if they're still in stock in the next few weeks i'm going to grab one. My wife is mildy annoyed, so i'm going to let her become less annoyed before I grab another. I picked up a P226 Legion, and P320 XFULL in the last 48 hours.
