Cant find a Diana .22 240 or 24

Anyone know where I can find a Diana 24 or 240? I'm hoping to pick one up for my dad who doesn't have a license. He wants a .22 just incase some varmint come around...he wants the knock down power to be there if he needs it.

The 24 and 240 are not produced from factory with. 22 barrel due to lower power of the rifle afaik.

There are .22 replacement barrels for sale that you could swap but that is probably not economical and leaves you with limited range due to lower power and heavier pellet.
Don't know if it fits a heavier spring but then you probably get into pal rated power.

The 24 was available from the factory in .22, but is no longer being made. In any case both models are relatively low powered because of the size of the spring and compression chamber with muzzle velocities under 500 fps. Neither would be suitable for dealing humanely with varmints.

Readers should be aware that airguns with a MV under 500 fps don't require a PAL to purchase or own. Anyone wishing to buy or possess a sub-500 fps airgun need only be at least 18 years of age.

Yes, no reason for the RCMP to get involved. They are under 500 fps and it sounds like his dad would be over 18.

Try looking on Canadian airgun forum.. several HW 30's in 22 cal (NON PAL) have up for sale the past few months. Failing that, D&L has them new. Pricey, but quality rifles...

I have a Diana 24 in .22, and I'd agree. It's fine for barn pigeons out to about 25 yards. Any further, and pellet drop starts to be a distraction. Barn pigeons can be frustratingly crafty, and I rely on the heavier pellets to do more damage. .177 moving faster/flatter at those distances might have been a better choice. Very fond of the gun though. Fun to shoot.
