can't find great thread on best first gun

the first time i came to this site i read a great thread compilation about which guns make great first guns.

i think one of the moderators had culled a bunch of previous threads into one uber-thread.

today marks 45 days since my PAL was submitted, so some time soon the thread will be very relevant but i can't find it anywhere on the site.

can anyone steer me in the right direction?

if it helps, there was a link to a video of a member shooting a Marlin 45/70

The one I'm thinking of was, I think, compiled by one of the moderators because so many people kept posting the 'what is the best first gun?' question.

It was a good article recommending a number of different calibers and describing what each was useful for. In particular, I recall reading about how wonderful the 45/70 is as a bush gun.

I'm going to feel extra stupid if it wasn't on CGN at all, but I don't go to any other forums so I'm pretty sure it was.
 
i don't think anyone is reading this thread anymore, but i can't figure out how to delete it so i'll just say I found the article, posted by 'Ruffed Grouse' on the hunting firearms forum.
