Firearms Authorization to Transport (ATT) Renewals
Most Canadians assume that citizens of this country are free to go wherever they like without the need for "travel papers". This is incorrect. Law-abiding owners of restricted/prohibited firearms require government authorizations to leave their residences with their firearms. To move your legally held firearms you must have the appropriate Authorization to Transport (ATT) issued by your province's Chief Firearms Officer (CFO), otherwise you can be arrested, imprisoned for five years and all of your firearms will be confiscated. If you do not have a valid firearms license, you will not be issued an ATT and if your firearms license expires, your ATT is revoked. If you wish to obtain a pistol for target shooting, you will need to join a club and get an ATT before you will be allowed to take the handgun home from the seller. While this sounds fairly oppressive, in practice it is just a matter of accurately filling out the forms and waiting several weeks for your ATT to arrive.
Instructions
When completing this form it is essential that you complete the application form in the manner required by the CFO of your province. Copies of these forms are also kept in the clubhouse on the table or in the desk drawers. Instructions for Ontario and Quebec members of the Eastern Ontario Handgun Club are found below. If you reside in Ontario and have questions concerning your Authorization to Transport Application, contact
Secretary@eohc.ca or call the CFO's office at 1-800-731-4000 ext 7503.
ONTARIO RESIDENTS
Ontario residents get to skip a variety of sections. Please complete and print this online ATT form that has been customized for residents of Ontario. Any sections of the form that you cannot click on do not need to be filled out. If for some crazy reason you don't use the online form, follow these instructions and print NEATLY in CAPITALS with BLACK ink and you will receive an ATT that will cover all transport to approved ranges in Ontario for the purpose of target shooting.
