Examine your fired brass to see if there are any irregularities. The brass will mirror the chamber, and if something is wrong the brass should tell you, like if the barrel is 6mm. Measure the length from the bolt face to lead to see if the chamber is in spec. Perhaps you have an abnormally long lead. Throat wear might be a concern, but it is unlikely to be washed out given the condition of the rifle, which you indicated was not heavily used.
Just for a hoot, if the pressure point under the barrel has been removed, you indicated that the barrel was free floating, try putting some shims in the barrel channel above the front swivel stud and see if that helps.
